Annuals were Thomas's weakness. He knew that most Master Gardeners, especially ones interested in conservation, did not like annuals because they were usually not native plants and they died very shortly after the season ended - but they were so beautiful! They came in so many colors! Deep purple verbena, bright magenta petunias, and vibrant yellow pansies; different flowers for every season, which Thomas planted in great big stone pots in his front yard.
